How are y’all doing with your stash down goals? I have to say, January got off to a rocky start. That being said, I did accomplish some things & I’m feeling better about the rest of the year. So, let’s see how I did on my goals for January & what my February goals are.
Maker Stash Down
For the Maker Stash Down the main goal is simple – make from your stashes. There won’t be monthly challenges this year, more like monthly motivation. I’ll do a monthly blog post here on the blog telling y’all what my goals are, how I’m progressing, & sharing all my makes. Y’all will be able to share your progress in the Facebook group. It will still be a fun place to share makes & encourage each other’s progress. 🙂
January’s Goals
This is a punch-list of my goals for January & how I fared. I’ll put pictures & more details below the list.
- Organization
- Get my yarn stash list updated – an on-going thing, but fairly updated
- Update my fabric file – did not work on it
- Update all project files – did not work on it
- Start matching materials to projects – very little work on this
- Monthly Projects
- Quilt on wall – My dog peed on my quilt y’all! : (
- Knitted sweater – Just need to do the sleeves!
- Stack of sewing – About half finished!
- New Projects
- Happy Scrappy Yarn Challenge – Finished my pattern post & some scrappy baskets.
- Pinterest Challenge – Signed up & did the post!
- Tutorial Tuesday on YouTube – No tutorials this month – bleh!
Alright, that’s the basic break down of how the month went for my goals. As far as organization & updating all those lists, I feel that will be an ongoing thing through out the year. When I have time to work on those things, I will.
January Projects
For my monthly projects, I did about half of what I set out to do. The quilt top in progress on the wall had to be washed & dried. My dog had apparently decided it was a great place to lift his leg! He’s about 12 years old & we’ve had trouble with him wanting to mark everything since he’s gotten older. Insert grumbling here ~>
Now I have to iron everything & try to finish it off. As for the knitted sweater, I did finish the second half, which was exciting! Now I just need to finish the sleeves & I’m doing them both at the same time.
I made good progress on the stack of sewing. A good bit of it was bags I needed to finish for the shop. I plan on finishing up some more of it this weekend. This is a stack I have on hand still, most of them have gone to new homes. : )
I did manage to sign up for the Pinterest challenge & do a post on it this month, so that’s a win! It also helped with my organizing, so double win!! The Happy Scrappy Yarn Challenge is going well & I finished a couple of baskets using random skeins of yarn. Be sure to check out the Facebook group for more great projects!
Those may be future videos for Tutorial Tuesday. A good thing since I didn’t manage to do a single tutorial video this month – boo!
All in all, January was not the best. I felt like I was still trying to work things out for the year, plus I’ve been having some weird health issues that haven’t helped. That will not discourage me from moving forward & making more goals!
February Goals & Projects
Each month, I’d like to pick projects to work on. Anything I didn’t finish from the month before will stay on the list & I’ll add a few more. Here are the projects I’d like to finish for February, not including what’s left from above!
Valentine Quilt ~>
I decided, at some point, to make a bunch of different Valentine themed quilt blocks & put them in a quilt. The ones I have currently would make a nice wall hanging, so I think that’s exactly what I’m going to do with them!
Crocheted Top ~>
I have several crocheted sweaters/tops in progress & I do intend to finish them all. However, I decided finishing this Spotting Clouds top from a Spoonful of Yarn first. The other sweaters are heavier & I probably won’t be able to wear them until next winter. This top is something I can wear in spring & summer because it’s very light weight.
Quilt Along Catch Up~>
I need to catch up on my Cotton Cuts Mystery Puzzle Quilt! It’s almost time for them to reveal the layout & I still haven’t finished my blocks. Should be an easy one to catch up on because it’s already pre-cut – yay!
This year I signed up for the Murder Mystery Quilt from Whipstitch. I haven’t even picked out fabric, much less made the first block or read the first chapter! I don’t want to get behind on this because I already have enough unfinished QAL’s floating around that need to be finished.
New Projects ~>
I do have some new projects planned for this month, but most have to stay secret for now! Be sure to watch my YouTube channel & Instagram to see what I’m up to. 😀
How to Participate in the Maker Stash Down
I drew a winner each month in the Facebook group last year for a $20 Amazon gift card. To enter, you had to share what you had finished for the month. After all, it was a finish along!
For the Maker Stash Down, it’s going to be more about making goals & meeting those goals. Goals related to creative endeavors, of course! For example ~>
- I set some goals above for the month, which I will share in the group.
- I’ll share my progress on my goals throughout the month in the group, with a recap at the end of the month here on the blog.
It’s really that simple! Share your goals, share your progress on your goals, & be entered to win a $20 Amazon gift card.
I don’t want anyone to feel intimidated by this. Your goals are your goals, it’s not a competition. It’s about being in a space that you can feel encouraged to flex your maker muscles! Setting goals is the first step in motivating your maker mojo. It gets those creative juices flowing!
Now, this is a stash down, so you are encouraged to work from your stash of supplies. I realize not everyone has a large maker stash to work from & I don’t want to leave anyone out. That’s why I’ve based it on creative goals & not just decreasing the stash. 🙂
Happy making y’all!
