Wow, I can’t believe it’s November already! It seems like October & September just went by in a blur. Today I’ve got a little finish for y’all – a seasonal tree banner! I put together all the yarn art trees I’ve been working on to make a piece of wall art. Hope y’all enjoy!
Seasonal Tree Banner
The last tree I did was the fall tree & I had picked out some fabrics for the corners. So, the first thing I did was sew on all the corners!
This corner with the bird is my favorite!
I had a long strip of denim colored fabric leftover from my husband’s quilt & I wanted to use it for borders. The strip wound up being only 1″ wide after I trimmed it up.
There was only enough left to add a border to either the top or the bottom. I opted to leave off the side borders. Next, I picked out a backing fabric. This blue on blue print with tiny leaves was perfect!
I didn’t add extra batting since there is already batting behind the trees & the borders are so narrow. This will be a hanging art piece, so I needed hanging tabs. I decided this silky tie with gold metal bits on it would work great. It used to go to a shirt I no longer have. : )
I just sewed the top & bottom together pillow cover style & flipped it right side out. Unfortunately two of my tabs got caught in the side seam!
No worries, I just cut them close to the seam. I surely wasn’t going to try to turn it back the other way!
All Finished
Here it is all pressed and ready to hang…
I was going to stitch along the border, but it did not look good to me at all. The tabs were left loose on one end because I plan on hanging it from my branch weaving.
I just need to figure out how I’m going to set everything up so it hangs right. It’s just held up with wonder clips & a wreath hanger at the moment! : D
I remembered to add a label y’all!
My ink was a little smudgy, but I still like it. Hope y’all enjoyed my little Friday Finish! Be sure to check out the podcast Saturday to see what else I’ve been up to this week. : )
See how I made all the trees ~>
