A Yarn Lover’s Christmas Tree
Last year I made myself a table top Christmas tree out of a tomato cage. I needed to downsize. This year I decided to create a themed tree with one of my favorite things – yarn! I made several crocheted ornaments, pulled in some other yarny makes, & sprinkled in some fun yarny tools.
It was fun to find things to add that were yarn related, like my skiing Santa. I didn’t knit his sweater & hat, but it fits right in with all the yarny goodness!
I had fun crocheting up things for the tree & wish I’d had more time to make more. The garland is some fun eyelash yarn!
What yarn lover tree would be complete without a basket of yummy yarn??
I made a Christmas cactus & decorated it with my crocheted version of twinkle lights. It’s nestled in an alpaca planter or maybe it’s a llama. I can never tell them apart!
I mixed in some premade ornaments with handmade ones. The poinsettias have a knit look even though they aren’t handmade.
A little sheet of cookies & a pitcher of hot cocoa make fun additions. The pitcher was supposed to be a mug, but I mis-matched my yarn weights. A pitcher of hot cocoa is better anyway! : D
I rounded out the look with a crocheted Christmas afghan I made years ago.
I hope y’all enjoyed my whimsical take on a traditional Christmas tree. Don’t forget to check out all the other wonderful trees!
