Bunny Trail Sign with Stencil Revolution

A while back I got an email from Stencil Revolution asking if I wanted to try out their stencils. They are small business located in Spring Hill, Florida. Since I love sharing small & local businesses, I said yes, of course I would! Hope y’all enjoy the post and have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Stencil Revolution

Stencil Revolution is a family owned business and they produce all the stencils right at their home base in Spring Hill, Florida. They have stencils in all kinds of sizes from small to extra large so you can find one to fit most any project. You can even get huge ones for your wall or patterns for floor tiles – something I’ll be trying soon! I requested these Easter stencils not really thinking about how close it was to Easter….

So the stencils were provided to me for free, but all other supplies came from my maker stash. As you’ll see below, my project started in one direction and turned out a little different. Those are the best kinds of projects!

Bunny Trail Sign

I’ve always got random bits of wood in my maker stash, never know what you can use them for. I pulled out two smaller pieces of luan wood, leftovers from one of my Dad’s projects. Then I found this piece of 1×2 which probably came from him as well. Not sure what it’s left from but the pointy ends give it some extra character!

I pulled out some of my paint and I really think I need to get some new paint y’all. That’s not part of the lid, it’s dried paint!

They don’t make this particular type anymore, but these are the newer items. I got these about a million years ago on clearance at Walmart. After some stirring and shaking, they still work just fine!

I decided I wanted a little texture so I slapped on a coat of crackle medium. Also probably a million years old! I feel a paint shopping spree coming in my near future. : D

Once it was tacky to the touch, I brushed on a slightly different shade of blue.

It didn’t get super crackle-y but I still like the affect.

The hardest part about these projects is waiting for paint to dry between steps!

Stencil Time

I decided to switch to chalk paint for the stenciling because it’s thicker. This just helps keep things from bleeding under the stencil. Plus these are newer{ish} paints. I also used a stencil brush, which you can see in one of the pictures above.

I was trying out and ombre affect, which worked out better on the bunny trail stencil that the Happy Easter stencil as you can see…

That mess up on the Easter part is totally my fault. I didn’t have the paint mixed up and it was watery on top. I could fix it by painting over it and re-stenciling that part, but I’m not happy with how the colors turned out so I decided not to use that panel for my sign.

I do really like how the bunny trail one turned out, so I attached it to my stake with a staple gun. This will need a good layer of clear coat to protect it from outdoor elements, but I’m currently out.

This sign will be good for other things besides Easter now, as you will see below!

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail

There is a huge fallen oak tree in my back yard curtesy of hurricane Michael. Although I was sad to see it fall, there is a family of rabbits that uses it to go from the back of the property to the front for foraging. I thought it would be fun to put it there, but then I wondered if predators might notice. Yes, I’m being silly but you never know! : D

Then I remembered my bestie’s daughter has some pet rabbits! It’s a perfect sign for their little bunny run area.

These bunnies stay in a pen outside, but they have an area fenced off to let them run and dig. Their names are Robert and Ross. Not sure which one is which!

I think they like their new sign! Thank you Stencil Revolution for letting me trying out your stencils. I will be looking for more for future projects!
