That’s an odd title, but that’s basically what I was doing today, decorating for fall! After I moved chairs off the porch, filled jugs with water, & washed the laundry, that is exactly what I did. It’s a little late, since the calendar has said it’s fall for almost a month. Really, it just hasn’t felt much like fall in my neck of the woods. This will be a short post today & by the time it {hopefully} goes out, I’ll most likely be hunkered in my safe spot crocheting!
All Through the Seasons
Until earlier today, my mantel shelf still held my spring/summer decor. It seemed appropriate since the temperatures are still in the 90s here! This is the same picture I showed in my post about making mixed media decor. You can see how I made the frame in this post.
My dad built this mantel shelf out of an old headboard & piece of wood. It’s been fun to decorate through the seasons. I hung it up for the first time in December 2016 after I did a little sheet rock removal in my living room!
That’s also the first time I decorated it for Christmas! You can read more about it in this post.
Once the holidays were over, my mantel felt a little bare. I decided to decorate it for Valentine’s Day with some DIY projects & black and white photos from our wedding. Ya’ll can check out that post right here. It also includes a recipe!
When the weather started warming up, it was time to change it out again for spring decor. As usual, this includes many DIY projects as well & you can find the post right here.
This past fall, I opted to decorate for Halloween. I think it turned out great!
Christmas was much the same last year, with a few tweaks here & there. I shared this picture in my last ornament post for last year’s sew-along.
Now we’ve rolled all the way around to fall 2018! I’m keeping things simple this year & just changing out the small stuff. I’m not sure I’m totally finished with it because that blank space at the top of the frame seems to need something. I just don’t know what yet!
Sorry if the picture is a little dark, it’s very cloudy here today. You can find out about the reversible sign on the mantel here & the one hanging to the right here. The two crocheted pumpkins are made by me & I used this pattern from Cynthia Banessa.
I hope anyone in the path of hurricane Michael stays safe & dry. See y’all Friday, as long as I’m able to! : )
