It’s time for another Finish it Friday! I don’t have much to show y’all this Friday. My crafty mojo is feeling a little let down from this past month. : ( I haven’t been able to do much making and that’s just not cool! March is THE month for makers, so I need to step it up! If you’re new here, this is just a recap of things I make that I don’t blog about and things coming up on the blog. I also like to include some fun links for what’s happening this month.

All About March
This month is full of things to do and according to this article it used to be the first month of the year. Maybe I should think of it as the first month too! Then I don’t have to feel like I’m starting some things late, right? : p I mentioned above that this is THE month for makers. Why? Well this month is dedicated to crafts, crochet, quilting, and making! There are all sorts of events and contests going on involving making. Here’s the definition of a “maker”, if your unsure what that means:
“a person or thing that makes or produces something”
That means whatever your into making, you’re a maker! Check out some of the links below for more information about all the crafty things going on this month.
- National Crochet Month
- National Craft Month
- The 18th of March is National Quilting Day, but March is “unofficially” Quilting Month!

No matter what you decide to do this month, let’s all get our hands dirty and get busy!
QAL Progress
I’ll show you the ones that I actually made some progress on first!
Quilting Life BOM from A Quilting Life ~> I only have January’s block done for this one. If you look at the original pattern, you will see I have made an error in my piecing! I decided to just go with it!
Milky Way Sampler QAL from Blossom Heart Quilts ~> I’m really digging the fabric for these blocks! I just hope I can find something similar to the background fabric to finish it out. I only had a small amount in my stash, but it looks so great for this!
The Children’s Library MBOM from Pat Sloan ~> I showed y’all the fabrics last month and I did manage to sew the January and February blocks.
These are the ones I’m still following, but I haven’t made any progress on.
- Murder Mystery QAL from Whipstitch
- Down the Rabbit Hole from Sarah Fielke
- Have a Jolly Little Christmas from Sew Fresh Quilts ~> I’ve decided I’m really not in love with the fabric I used for the first two blocks, so I’m looking for something different. Whether that means buying new fabric or not is yet to be determined!
- Kathryn Kerr’s 365 Challenge ~> Pieces are cut for February, but I haven’t sewn them together yet.
- The Scrappy Stashbuster Club from Intrepid Thread
- Designer of the Month from Aurifil
- Monthly Mini Quilts from Sew Can She
CAL’s for 2017
I’ve made a little progress on learning Tunisian crochet, but no progress on the Moorland Blanket CAL from Attic24. It’s been a really slow crochet month because most of my evening crochet time has been dedicated to working on the computer. Not fun!
Tunisian Crochet Monthly Dishcloth from Petals to Picots ~> This is slow going for me! I have managed to get a little bit better at it, but it’s still so different from regular crochet. I do enjoy it and I really like the stitches.
You can check out my Pinterest board Crafts ~ QAL’s & CAL’s for more things to follow.
Other Finishes
I have sewn all the buses together that I mentioned in my post about my creative process. This is one stuffed with the tires leaning against it. I really wish I had lined the panels with quilt batting because it just looks too lumpy to me!
I also finished up one of the two bags left from my giveaway in January. This was just so I could use it to tote things at QuiltCon! ; ) I used a wide gross grain ribbon I had stashed, which was just enough for straps!
Okay, I didn’t really make these, but I did decide how they would look. I had some cards printed out from Vistaprint to add to items I make & to pass out at QuiltCon. This is just a stock print, but I really like it!
Coming Up
Since March is the month for makers, you can expect lots of crafty goodness coming up on the blog. I mean, I have to make up for last month, right? : ) Here’s a few highlights to look forward to:
- St. Patrick’s Day ~> A day for everything to be green! I’ll have some fun facts and a green drink coming up to help you celebrate!
- Jewelry Organizer ~> I’m taking an old, standing jewelry box and turning it into a wall display for my jewelry. This is something I can’t wait to make!
- Spring decor ~> It’s time to make over the mantel shelf again and I’ve got some great DIY projects in mind!
- A modern quilt challenge from AGF ~> This looks like fun and I really, really want to do it! I just don’t know if I’ll have the time. We’ll shall see!
- Fashion Friday Story ~> I didn’t do one last month, but I’m hoping to do it this month! There’s something really cute coming up this month, so fingers crossed!
- Ultimate Bundles ~> There’s an awesome bundle coming up at the end of the month, but that’s all I can say for now! Stay tuned! {Check out the last bundle here.}
I’ve got so much other stuff running around in my head, but I don’t want to give it all away yet! Also, I completely reorganized my Pinterest boards and put them in alphabetical order. That’s what’s been taking over my crochet time. A little crazy, I know! I added streams from my Pinterest page and Instagram feed to the side bar if you want to see what I’ve been up to. Or you can always follow me too! : )
Y’all have a great weekend and go make stuff!
P.S. I’m thinking of changing the name of “Finish it Friday” because it’s about more than finishes. What do y’all think? Any suggestions or name ideas are welcome, just let me know in the comments! Got something you’d like to see on the blog or know more about? Tell me, I’d love to know!
