Since Christmas is only 18 days away, I thought I’d share some ideas for handmade gift tags. I usually make all of my gift tags because I like the outside of a package to be just as great as the inside. I’ve even made up a few printables for y’all to give you a head start! : )

Handmade Gift Tags
Making gift tags doesn’t have to be time consuming, it can be fun! I used to make each one specifically for each gift I wrapped. Y’all, I really don’t have time for that anymore! So, I found ways to make them, but keep it simple. I’ll turn on a Christmas movie & just make up a bunch. Then they’re ready when it’s present wrapping time.
I got these corrugated gift tags from Consumer Crafts for a whole $1 a pack. These already have hangers too, so they give me a good head start.
There’s also wood on the back of these! That’s a nice gift tag already, but I want to jazz it up a bit.
I went over them with some metallic luster in gold & silver to add a little shine.
Then I got real fancy and added a 3D sticker. See, not hard at all! Now all I need to do is write “to” & “from” when I add it to the package.
Another trick I use is to buy these scrap paper packs. It’s filled with different cuts of card stock & they are perfect for tags & cards. I find them at Wal-Mart for about $2.94. Sometimes they have them with just neutral papers.
I grabbed a larger one & stamped some trees across the bottom.
Then I stuck some Christmas decals on it with glue & added some twine in the corner. Voila – extra large gift tag!
I got those Christmas decals out of an ephemera pack. Some of this just needs a hole & ribbon to be a tag, like this stocking.
Wasn’t that easy? It just adds a little extra touch to a perfect gift! : )

Hi Kristie, thanks heaps for the tags. Love the ones you made.
You’re welcome Guida! 🙂
Love all your tag ideas. The tree quilt is cute. I have my eye on a pattern by Diary of a Quilter for a scrap sort of wonky tree quilt. I am ordered an extra week in the month of December so I can have more time.
Thank you Ellen! I found another wonky tree quilt pattern I like even more. Hoping to get lots of quilts made this year! : )
