It seems like I’ve been kind of here & there lately with the blog & other social stuff. I promise it’s not because I’m neglecting y’all! I’ve been working really hard to get my maker bags ready for an Etsy shop. Being that hurricane Michael ruined my plans to open in mid-October, I’ve been having to re-arrange things. Stinkin’ hurricanes are such party poopers! Anyway, I thought I’d share a few finished bags & some in progress with y’all. That way ya’ll can tell me what you think! : D
Mini Maker, Small Maker, & Maker Pouch
I’ve designed a few different kinds of bags for different purposes. I’m calling them all maker bags because they are intended for the creative spirit! The first ones up are my mini maker bags which are about 6″ x 6 1/2″ x 4″ deep. Perfect to hold a small crochet or embroidery project!
I have two Christmas themed ones finished! I’m realizing now that I didn’t show the outside fabric very well, but I will have more pictures in the shop. : )
Next are my small maker bags at 6 1/2″ x 9″ x 6″ deep. I really love the prints on these & I’ll have a hard time letting them go!
Here’s the inside – love! You can really open these up to get to what’s inside. They will hold two skeins of Caron Simply Soft yarn quite snuggly. The buffalo plaid one is extra special because I sewed my label upside down! : D
I also have two with plaid & farm animals. Just need to add a tag & drawstrings.
I will also have some maker pouches which are 5″ x 6″ x 4″ deep with a zippered wedge top. This one’s just to see how it will kinda look. I didn’t do the zippered end right & I left out the batting between the layers. Ugh! Sometimes I need to quit while I’m ahead!
Here’s the inside…
These will be great for cosmetics, a small yarn or embroidery project, or a larger notions pouch.
Maker Tote
My maker tote will be like the one shown below…
I gave that one away last year & I called it a charm square tote. See the first half here & a mini charm version here. I’ve made a few changes, like adding a solid bottom & pockets. The ones below are in the works to go into the shop & they are about 14″ x 14″ x 4″ deep.
- blue/green batik squares with denim blue velveteen bottom & polka dot lining
- orange/rust batik squares with brown textured brown bottom & plaid lining
- pink batik squares with pink velveteen bottom & gray floral lining
- orange/yellow/brown batik squares with denim blue velveteen bottom & airplane blueprint lining
- yellow/brown batik squares with textured brown bottom & yellow/white lining
- fall batiks with eggplant corduroy bottom & ticket print lining {not completely set on this}
Those are all the ones in the makes, so what do y’all think? I’d really love to know! : )
Mega Maker & Traveling Maker
The last two on the list are my mega maker & traveling maker bags. This is what a mega maker bag will look like…
It’s 14″ x 20″ x 6″ deep & you can put enough yarn in it for a large afghan! It also has pockets & a tab to hook things to. The traveling maker bag will look like the one below…
It will be about 14″ x 14″ x 6″ deep with a zippered pocket on one side & open pockets on the other. The top has a set in zipper. These are both previous makes, but here are some fabrics I’m working with for the shop.
I’ve cut two in this brown, textured, heavy weight, cotton.
One will be a traveling maker & one will be a mega maker. I’m thinking about using the farm animal print in the mega maker bag.
I also have two dark, striated denim shells cut. I’m planning on using a bleaching technique on the bottoms of these.
Maybe I’ll use the farm animal print with this fabric. I really like that print! : D
The last two are from a textured, chevron print cotton. I cut one with the print vertical & one with it horizontal.
For now, I just have some outer shells sewn for these. I’m working on putting together contrasting tops & linings. Plus I have to match up zippers & such. The traveling maker bags have two zippers & two types of pockets & handles, so they take the longest to make!
I hope y’all enjoyed seeing the bags that will soon be in my own Etsy shop. I’m will be putting things in this week as I finish them. If I don’t, I may never get it opened!
I appreciate any feed back! Y’all have a great week! : )
