Welcome to the Maker Stash-Down 2024! Do you like to make? Do you have an awesome maker “collection”? This could be the challenge for you! The aim is to use all those wonderful maker supplies to actually make things. Read on to find out all the details!
It’s been 3 years since I did this challenge. I started it as a way to work through all the maker supplies, UFOs, and WIPs I’d accumulated over the years. It was also a way to meet other makers and see all of their awesome makes. Here’s how it went in previous years:
This year will be fairly similar, but I’m determined to really keep up with my goals. I noticed looking back on the previous posts, there’s still lots of things that just did not get done. It’s okay, cause it’s a new year and a new chance for more making! Here’s a breakdown of how to participate in the challenge:
- I’ll be posting monthly blog posts with my goals for the month and finishes from the previous month. You can share your goals and finishes in the Teadoddles Makers Facebook group.
- Share your goals and finishes each month to be put in a drawing for a $20 Amazon gift card. This will be a random draw from the people that participate.
- Since this is a Maker Stash-Down all crafts are included! If you made it, it counts. If you have questions about posting something, just let me know.
So, that’s basically what’s happening each month. Pretty awesome, right? I’m so excited to see everyone’s goals and makes! : D
April
April was jamb full of activities and health issues. That would be why I didn’t do a Maker Stash-Down post last month. Health issues meaning a week of my ear being stopped up and another week that I had some head cold/allergy thing going on which took a toll on my voice. The activity part was going and doing and just being generally exhausted from the going and doing. This took me to the last week of April and then I decided I just needed a break, so I took the rest of the month off from the blogging and such.
I did manage to finish some crocheting projects, which was all I really had the energy for last month. I shared those in this video if you would like to take a peak. This also made me think – what if I focused on one type of craft each month? I feel like I got more crochet projects done when my primary focus was crochet – although unintended. So I’m changing things up for the rest of this year’s Maker Stash-Down and I’ll have a primary focus for each month. I will work on other things if I feel like it and have the time.
This will also fit in with my goal to be more mindful this year. Something I plan on doing a blog post for very soon. We will see how it goes!
May – Making Clothes
I have a break coming up this month between spring and summer semesters, so I’m hoping to get lots done. Although I did feel a strange sense of de ja vu as I typed that out….March is coming to mind! I have a stack{s} of patterns I’ve already matched to fabric that I’m hoping to get done. These stacks were created sometime last year I believe but it gives me a good starting point for making clothes this month. Before I show you all those, I have a finish to share for May. Good start already!
This one is a re-make of a too snug t-shirt I love but had never worn. I basically chopped off the bottom and added more flowy fabric for a better fit. Check out the video on how to that right here. Now I have some leftovers to deal with….
I plan on doing at least one video this month about using up apparel fabric leftovers. This will keep my scraps from piling up too! I will also be working on a few re-creation projects like this cardigan…
I like the light weight knit fabric and lace detail of this cardigan, but it clings to itself very badly. It’s fairly old and has lots of peeling to the fabric. De-fuzzing won’t work on the lace, so I’m going to make a new one. I’ll also be making a pattern from these very old yoga pants.
These were my favorite pants to wear around the house – in case you can’t tell lol! Having a pattern will allow me to make as many as I want.
Patterns & Fabric
I get most of my apparel fabric from Fabric Mart because that’s where I find the best deals and variety. I’ve had these fabrics in my stash for awhile, so they won’t be listed anymore. Anything not from Fabric Mart, will be listed with the fabric description. The pattern and fabric description will be below each photo. And yes, I’m hoping to finish these all in May!

A Little Extra Clothes Making
Okay, I’m sneaking a little crochet in this post, but it is for a garment. That means it’s making clothes! Ha! I have all these single skeins in a similar fiber and I found the perfect tank to use them up. The Breezy Days Daisy Tank Top by All About Ami is made up of granny squares and that is perfect for this yarn!
I would also like to step into the world of lingerie making this month. While I won’t be sharing pictures of me wearing the items, I will share what I made and how it went. This will be simple bras, panties, and nightgowns. Keep a look out for more clothes sewing videos on my YouTube channel this month!
I hope y’all will join the Maker Stash-Down and have fun connecting with other makers in the group. It’s really fun to see what everyone’s making and you never know what you might see. All makers are welcome so, if you know a maker, invite them to join in the fun!
