I’ll say this is my 4th year doing the stash-down since last year didn’t go so well! Hopefully things go better this year and we all get lots of making done. These are past stash-downs if you want to take a look:

This year will be fairly similar, but blog posts will be a little different. The blog post will have pictures and links for all the projects I’m working on. I’ll be talking more in depth about everything each month in a video, which will be linked below. Here’s a breakdown of how you can participate in the challenge:

  • I’ll be posting monthly blog posts & videos with my goals for the month and finishes from the previous month. You can share your goals and finishes in the Teadoddles Makers Facebook group.
  • Share your goals and finishes each month to be put in a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. This will be a random draw from the people that participate. You’ll find more information about this in the Facebook group. It’s a wonderful place to meet makers!
  • Since this is a Maker Stash-Down all crafts are included! If you made it, it counts. If you have questions about posting something, just let me know.

So, that’s basically what’s happening each month. Pretty awesome, right? I’m so excited to see everyone’s goals and makes! All of my goals, pics of projects, and links are in the blog post. Check out the video below to hear more about my goals this month.

January Finishes

January is one of those months that feels like it lasts forever and then all of a sudden it’s February! I did get lots of things done this month, but I feel a little bit like I could have done more. We had an unexpected week off because of heavy snow for our area. That seems like it would mean more maker time, but all I wanted to do was hibernate because it was so cold! School has been very busy for me this year as well which means I’m still balancing out my work/maker energy balance. Still a great month for making, so let’s take a look at what I finished for January!

  • Top left – Elizabeth top from Style Arc, knit fabric
  • All other tops – Blanc T Shirt with Hack Pack from Blank Slate Patterns, athletic fabrics

The only clothing pattern I started and finished this month – Devon Cocoon Sweater dress by Seamwork, double brushed knit fabric.

Barb Stretch Pant from Style Arc with added pockets {see this video on how I added pockets}

Angry Snowman from Ann Wood Handmade

  • Felt Yetis from Little Dear
  • Quilted pillow covers with leftover dinosaur fabric – made up pattern to fit my pillows

Sia Scarf from Life and Yarn, Shawl in a Ball FAB

Hat per month, Greenery Hat from One Skein Crochet book, Yarn Bee Sweet Divinity in grey clouds

Amigurumi per month, Caterpillar by Crafty Intentions, Show Reel Studios yarn

The things I work on a little each month will be listed below.

February – Use What You Love

This month’s theme is use what you love! Most makers have things in their stash that they just love, special things, precious things. If you’re like me, you’re always putting off using it because what if I mess it up? This month, be brave and make something just for yourself with something you love from your stash! I’ll be using some things I love in several projects this month and they will be noted below. First, let’s take a look at some things that didn’t quite work out in January.

These projects just didn’t work out as I planned which happens sometimes. I’ll be redoing the yoggers this month, but the other two will be put away for later.

Sewing

Project information is listed above the pictures and monthly goals are at the end of each section.

Aurifil DOM, circa 2017, I got everything ready, but I didn’t get the block completed.

Seminole Sampler from Morning Glory Designs, circa 2016, February’s block

Goals are to finish the Aurifil DOM block and the next blocks in QALs I listed in my last stash-down post.

My goal with clothing this month is to focus on pants. I want to make a pants sloper and muslin to use for dress pants. The fine wool pictured below is part of my use what you love.

Making underwear is on my Make Nine list, so I will start with these basic panties from Blank Slate Patterns.

I’d also like to pick a fabric from my stash each month that has me stumped as to what to make with it. This month is this 100% cotton snake skin print French terry.

I’d like to try to finish some of the garments I had listed last month, but I will see how it goes.

Quilt and finish this Jelly Glazed Hearts Tablerunner from the Fat Quarter Shop

  • Left – Felt Dragons from Little Dear {I got the patterns from being a Patreon member, but she has other dragon patterns currently available}
  • Right – Quilt as you go Heart Garland from Ameroonie Design {sign up for newsletter to get free pattern}

Renewal block from Eudaimonia Studio

My goals are to finish the little makes and a mini quilt project each month. I don’t have a mini assigned for January.

  • Top left – Mini mushrooms embroidery from Little Dear, not completed but I will continue to work on it
  • Top right – Puzzle temperature cross stitch from 4stitch, realized I was missing the 26th, but you’ll see it corrected in the video

Starting a temperature embroidery to keep up with the lowest temperature each day. Free pattern from Garden Girl Studio.

My goals are now to work on in progress cross stitch and embroidery and improve my stitch work.

Yarny Things

These are divided by monthly, yearly, and WIPs to finish so goals are in the lists.

  • Top left – Amigurumi per month, Dragons, Red Heart Amigurumi
  • Top right – Hat per month, Special Animalz yarn {pattern on label}, Boss Beanie by Willie Smith from Darn Good Yarn
  • Bottom – Socks per month, Herringbone Socks from Heart Hook Home, Mason Creations Yarn

Blackstone Designs Tunisan CAL, January blocks, Red Heart Super Saver Stripes in Sutherland Stripes

Java Wrap, kit from Lion Brand, knitting {continuing without using the 24/7 cotton} Almost done!

Coastal Fog Chunky Cardigan from Hopeful Honey, Stitchbird from Lion Brand

DIY Things

Getting into junk journaling and painting more.

  • Top – Book Journal, I plan to read at least 2 books a month and keep up with them here
  • Bottom – Junk Journal, almost complete January spread

Did not get to painting but I plan on exploring that more when the 100 Day Project starts on February 23rd.

Whew! That was a lot! I hope y’all will join in the stash-down adventure. Let’s see what all we can make!
