Every March I get excited because there are so many wonderful maker-y things going on! There are fun photo challenges on Instagram, it’s national crochet month, & national quilting day happens in March. I don’t want any makers to miss out on all the fun happening, so this is a round-up to help get your maker mojo flowing. March is for makers y’all, so go make stuff! : D

I usually post this at the beginning of the month, so I’m a little behind. It’s still not too late to join in all the making madness y’all! These events go really well with my Finish-Along Challenge for this month – making time to make. Seeing all the other makers celebrating should be the perfect fuel for your imagination!

National Crafting

It’s so wonderful to see days, weeks, even whole months dedicated to making!

  • National Craft Month hosted by Association for Creative Industries ~ Check out the website for a free printable calendar with tips & ideas for different crafts each week. You can also find out more about the CRE8TIME movement, which is about making time to create. Now that definitely goes along with the Finish-Along Challenge for this month! : D

  • National Crochet Month hosted by the Crochet Guild of America ~ I need to join this! Lots of information & fun things for crocheters this month. You can check out Underground Crafter for the International Crochet Month Designer Showcase. A different pattern is released each day of March & they are either free or 25% off.
  • National Quilting Day is on March 16th hosted by the Quilt Alliance & The National Quilt Museum ~ If you are lucky enough to live in or near Paducah, Kentucky, you can attend events for this day in person! There’s some great ideas for celebrating the day & some free quilt patterns on the website as well.

Insta Fun

Instagram is great for sharing pics of new makes & making new maker friends. The photo challenges going on in March are perfect for helping you get out there and show the world what a fabulous maker you are!

  • #marchmeetthemaker from @joannehawker ~ I’ve followed this challenge for a couple years now & it even has a website dedicated to the hashtag. You can find the photo prompts there as well as a printable planner to help plan out your photos. She also had some super cool maker pins that are all sold out now & I’m a little bummed that I missed them! Poo!

  • #miymarch19 from @thewendyward & @dressmakerssocial ~ This year the prompts have the theme of sustainable sewing, which I love! This tends to lean towards sewing clothes, but it’s really for all sewing
  • #mendmarch from @visiblemending ~ So much eye candy with this one!! This is all about mending the clothes you have using embroidery or fabric or buttons or whatever floats your boat. Love it!
  • #hookedonyarn2019 from @stitchesnscraps @ucrafter & @themarlybird ~ This one & the next one are to help you celebrate National Crochet Month. What’s on your hook?? : D
  • #crochetmadness hosted by the #wonderwoolmen ~ There are several hosts for this hashtag, so I’ll let y’all check them out through the link!

No matter what you decide to do, I hope your March is filled with making madness! : D
