Last weekend I attended a local event called Pickers in the Park put on by the Crisp County Lions Club. It was a hot, humid day, so I did not last long, but it was a fun event! There were crafts, yard sales, food, & music {the pickers!} at the event. As I moseyed along all the vendors & makers, I stopped to chat with some of them to learn a little more about their makes & businesses. It’s always fun to make new maker friends!

Makers & Businesses
The very first booth I stopped at was for Southern Boutique from Americus, GA. Cindy & Tammy run a boutique with fun women’s clothing, accessories, & home decor. You can find them on Facebook & Instagram as well. If you’d like to visit their brick & mortar store, hours are Wednesday-Friday from 2-6 & Saturday from 10-5.
Next I spied Delia Newell of Serendipity Designs from Pitts, GA. I’ve purchased things from her at the 100 Mile Yardsale in the past, like the frame for my weaving project & my big filing cabinet. She was selling her makes at this event, which included remaking furniture & housewares into new things. Love it! I couldn’t find a Facebook or Instagram for her, so if anyone can help with that, let me know please!
The next booth I visited was Brenda’s Rock-N-Art. This space was full of paintings by Brenda Perry of Cordele, GA. This woman loves to paint y’all! She does do commission work & you can connect with her on Facebook.
I love going to an event & meeting someone that is connected to me in a way I didn’t know! Let’s see if I can get this straight – the lady on the left is the sister of the man my grandmother is dating. Is that not too funny? I got so caught up talking to her about crochet that I don’t remember her name – which is not funny! Anyway, this booth was for Not Too Shabby Farmhouse Decor. I believe these were items made by Victoria {on the right} & the lady on the left is her grandmother. She had letters stamped on the ends of wood slices & some were made into signs {bottom right}. These ladies are from Warner Robins, GA. Please let me know ladies if I got any of that wrong!
Ok, I think these planters from Silks, Signs, & Such fascinated me the most! I had never seen anything like them. After talking to the maker, Brenda Underwood, I was surprised to learn they are made with old towels, blankets, & rags! Wow!
Sandra Bowen is also part of this business & both ladies are from Americus, GA. Y’all know I got Brenda’s email address so I can talk to her some more about how she made these. I did find this post that looks like these & sounds like what she was telling me about the process. I think this is so neat & a great way to recycle old linens!
I forgot to take a picture of the last maker on my list. Oops! Sherry Rucker of Rustic Barntiques was such a joyous person! Her booth was full of repurposed & refurbished items. She’s also really good with the power tools & wood…
Aren’t these wooden feathers the best? You know they had to come home with me! Sherry is having an Early Summer Pickers Event next weekend & I’m hoping to be able to attend. It’s located in Fort Valley, GA & you can find more info on her Facebook page linked above.
My Purchases
Y’all didn’t think I could attend an even like this and not come home with some goodies did y’all? Besides the wooden feathers above, I picked up this plaid tunic from Southern Boutique. I’m wearing it right now & it’s very comfy!
I snapped up this metal basket from a man trying to sell me another window frame. That’ll make more since in a bit! It’s an old milk crate & very heavy duty.
It’s got lots of rustic charm too…
So, this is what I was toting around when the milk crate man spotted me. I got this glass-less window frame from the same man I bought my jar full of spools from at the 100 mile yard sale.
He always has the coolest stuff & I really need to take his picture one day {if he’ll let me!}.
This was a fun event & day out with family. I hope everyone takes time to attend local events like these. It makes for a better community & supports local small businesses & entrepreneurs.
Y’all should also remember your mother’s this weekend, because Mother’s Day is Sunday. I heard on the radio this morning that most mother’s work about 92+ hours a week, so show them some love!
