Another month has gone by & it’s time for a Monthly Roundup! This month has not been as productive as I’d hoped, but I still have plenty to share with y’all. Let’s see what I’ve been up to in August 2017….

Blog News
I’ve been making some changes to the newsletter email & I realized things were not working as planned! I think I have everything fixed now, but if you see something weird, just let me know. Sometimes you think things are working fine & don’t know it’s broken until it’s pointed out!
I’ve added a page with printable coloring pages designed by me to the blog. This page is password protected & you can gain access by subscribing to Teadoddles newsletter.
This is a reminder of my typical blog schedule for new readers. I try to stick to this as much as possible, but life happens!

Crafty News
The biggest crafty news is that the Merry Christmas Sew-Along has begun! I released the first ornament pattern on August 14th & everyone seems to love it! You can find all you need to know about the SAL by clicking on the link above. Monique from Farm House Quilts will release her pattern on August 28th – this Monday! I’m so excited to see her design because it’s a surprise for me too!
Crafty People ~>
Crafty people are the best! I’ve become a little obsessed with watching quilt-y YouTube videos! Here are a few of my favorites to watch while I’m making ~>
Midnight Quilt Show with Angel Walters ~> This lady cracks me up! I can totally relate to her quilting methods & her free motion quilting is outstanding.
Darlene Michaud ~> Another funny lady! She has several different series on her channel, but my favorites are the ones about crumb quilts, easy quilt blocks, & refashion adventures. Just be warned that she has a bit of a “potty mouth”!
Crochet ~>
This has been a month for crochet! I’ve been picking up the hook more often these days, which is typical when I start to feel fall in the air.
I posted this little make on Instagram with the caption:
“The moment Fred & Ted realized all the horror stories about marshmallows & campfires were not urban legends!”
The pattern is by Sharon Ojala from Amigurumi To Go , but I did improvise a little! Hee hee!
I’m continuing testing out some Amigurumi patterns for Two Hearts Crochet. They have so many cool ami & afghan patterns & they are all free! This time I made some princesses!
I also finally finished the bobble sheep pillow…
I’ve finally picked my Moorland afghan to work on again! The pattern was part of a CAL from Attic24 I started at the beginning of the year. It got put away when the weather warmed, but I hope to finish it before it gets cold again. Maybe I should spend an evening weaving ends in….
QAL’s ~>
Here’s what I’ve managed to catch up this month!
Down the Rabbit Hole from Sarah Fielke ~> I spent probably 2 or 3 days cutting things to try & catch up this QAL. Now I’m unsure of the background, which is why nothing has been sewn! I absolutely love the background fabric, but I think I need something a little less busy to go with my colorful fabrics. Most of it would be covered up & this is fabric I would want to see every part of. Decisions, decisions!
Aurifil DOM ~> Here are the two latest blocks…
I still need to stitch down the backing for the cutouts in the outer portion of the first one because I ran out of thread! Of course, maybe I’ll use yellow thread for the outer portions…hmmmm….we shall see!
Milky Way Sampler from Blossom Heart Quilts~> I haven’t done this month’s block yet, but I wanted to show y’all the new background color. I ran out of the blue at block 6 & had to choose something different. It still has a “milky way” sort of feel & hopefully there is enough to get through the rest of the blocks!
There are several new QAL’s in the works or starting soon, so in case you need a new project….
I Love Home from Jacquelynne Steves
I Wish You a Merry Quilt Along hosted by several bloggers, link to Facebook group
Grandma’s Kitchen from Pat Sloan
Bee Happy Sew Along from Lori Holt {templates & quilt kits also available}
Other Sewing…
I wanted to brush up on my embroidery skills & be ready for Monique’s SAL pattern, so I stitched up one of the Bitty Blooms patterns from Jacquelynne Steves Facebook group. It turned out better than I hoped, especially since the start was a little rough!
See this pile of fabric & cut squares? It’s supposed to be a quilt for my son to take with him when he leaves for college. He leaves in October, so I’d better stop putting it off! ; )
I want to do more scrap quilts & have been really inspired by watching those YouTube videos I mentioned before. So I started dividing my strip scraps into piles to make blocks. It’s fun to see the remnants and remember what they came from! Look for more about these projects in up-coming Monday posts!
Don’t forget to check out the Great Links section in the sidebar for links to great linky parties, QAL’s, & such! It’s below the post if you’re reading this on a mobile phone. Also, check out my Pinterest profile for more crafty inspiration!
Coming up in September…..
Well, my office reno has kind of stalled out! I didn’t get around to fixing up my boring filing cabinet this month, but it’s on the list for September.
Other things to look forward to ~>
- Fall décor ideas ~ It’s coming y’all, I can feel it!
- Scrappy quilting tutorials ~ Like I mentioned above. : )
- It’s almost baking season & I’ve got some more family recipes to share.
Besides all that fun stuff, I’m thinking about starting my own YouTube tutorials. What do y’all think about that?
Have a great weekend & make some great stuff!
