Time to see what I’ve been up too in between blog posts this month! I just thought May’s post was full, this month is bursting at the seams! I’ve been a very busy lady in June, which is perfectly fine with me. Y’all might want to get a cup of coffee & a snack before digging into this. Let’s see what’s been happening in June 2018…

Blog News
First off – I’m taking the week of 4th of July off! I’m an adjunct instructor at the local college & that week is summer break for the school. I decided to take the week off from blogging as well – so no new blog posts that week {July 2nd thru July 6th}. This will give me time to get caught up, maybe even get ahead, & make, make, make! I’ll still be popping in on social media, so you don’t forget who I am! ; )
So, last month I did a Facebook Live video to go along with my monthly roundup post. I decided that was a little too nerve wracking for me! Since I’d still like to do a video, I’m moving to a YouTube podcast of sorts. I’m hoping to do one twice a month or every 2 weeks. Don’t worry, I will still do the monthly roundup so all the links will be in one place. I just want to connect with more makers, crafters, sewers, crocheters, etc. I think this will be a good way to do that. We’ll see how it goes!
I’d like to welcome all new subscribers – I’m glad to have you here! In case you didn’t know, there’s a page with free adult coloring printables available only to subscribers. You should have received a password with your welcome email for this month. A new password goes out on the first of the month. I try to put up at least one new drawing each month. Sometimes I’m an over achiever & put up more. ; )
Standard post time for the blog is 7:00 p.m. EST. The blog hops I participate in have different post times & you can find them in the Monthly Posts list below.
New Affiliates
I’ve been really trying to find more maker friendly affiliates & I think I’ve got some good ones to add to the mix y’all! : D
- Darn Good Yarn ~> I discovered this business through watching crochet & knitting podcasts on YouTube. After doing more research, I was excited to join their affiliate program. You can find out more about how it all started & what it’s about right here. I also joined their yarn club & I’ll show you more about that below!
- Lion Brand Yarn ~> I’ve been using Lion Brand yarn since I can remember! It’s a brand I can find locally & they have a great variety of different yarns. Homespun is one of my favorites & you can see the cardigan I made with it in my December roundup.
- Consumer Crafts ~> I’m always looking around the web for great crafty deals & I came across Consumer Crafts. They have a wide variety of crafting supplies & storage solutions for said crafting supplies. They even have the bead storage trays I love so much for my sewing machine feet! I went rummaging around in their sale section & have an awesome haul to show you below.
- I Like Crochet ~> I discovered this digital magazine when looking for new crafty affiliates in ShareASale. Since I don’t like having affiliates without testing them out, I signed up for a subscription after checking out their website. I love it! There are so many patterns I’ve added to my list & it’s only $2.97 a month. You’ll be seeing some makes from this magazine on the blog soon!

Life Events
We went straight from about 3 weeks of rain to sweltering heat! Now, I kinda miss the rain because it was keeping it about 10 degrees cooler during the day. Anyway, my mother surprised me with these mushroom items this month!
I love, love, love mushroom & gnome things & these are just wonderful. She managed to sneak the one on the right past me in Michael’s while I was mesmerized by the yarn!
I received a wonderful gift from a crafty family friend this month as well. She made this for me with her Cricut machine & I think it suits me perfectly!
It rides with me every morning to work & keeps my coffee nice & toasty. Even though it’s sweltering outside, it’s like a refrigerator where I work, so hot coffee helps warm me up.
- June Target Beauty Box for men {$7} ~> I’ve purchased Target beauty boxes in the past & they usually have some neat items. They have boxes for women, men, & babies. I missed the women one for June, but snagged the man one for my husband. It’s missing the Old Spice Pomade that came in it because it was given to someone that will use it. You have to sign up for email to know when the next ones come out, usually on the 1st.
- Walmart Beauty Box {$5} ~> Walmart has a beauty box now as well & you can sign up for a subscription. It comes out every season. I missed the women one again, but snagged this limited edition Men’s Grooming Bag for $7.
- Walmart Beauty Box Favorites {$9.88} ~> I discovered these in my local store & they were on clearance for $7! The Influenced by Nature box {#4} is still available online & you can sign up for notifications for when the other boxes are back in stock. They have a lip, eye, bronzing, & curls box too, but I didn’t see those in my store.
Now that we’ve looked at my growing box collection, let’s check out the crafty things I’ve been up to between blog posts. There will be more boxes below, just so you know! ; )
Crafty News
I went through all my WIPs, supplies, & future project plans & put it all in a project planner. These are like my master lists for anything crafty I’m doing. The highlighted parts are things I’ve completed – yay me!
I also reorganized my crafty binders & made use of some recycled baggies. This baggie holds all my yarn & fabric labels so I can remember what stuff is made of. I get these baggies when I order stuff from the Fat Quarter Shop & I always keep them for future use.
During my shopping adventure this month, I stopped in Joann’s for some light weight interfacing. This is for some t-shirt & clothing quilts I’m making. It was on sale for 40% off & I had a 20% off total purchase coupon. Yes! I also grabbed some clearance twine & a mini scrapbook paper set.
I’ve been trying to do more doodling but sometimes I just don’t feel inspired! After watching this video on printing on fabric, I was inspired to create this drawing:
I plan on using it to print a pattern on fabric & I will probably be doing a blog post about it in the future.
My #100dayproject on Instagram has really fallen to the wayside! I fully intend on finishing it, but I don’t know when it will be done. You can check it out by looking up #100daysofteadoddles on Instagram.

Finishes
I finished two quilt tops this month! The first is the Crossroads Quilt from a QAL way back in 2016! : o
Next is the Postcard from Sweden Quilt from a QAL this year – yay me! Click the link to see the post I did about making it.
In case you missed it this month, I also made:
WIPS
This month I hope to finish up these WIPs in my stash:
- Stars in the Night Quilt from another 2016 QAL
- Children’s Library + Wonderland ~> I plan on combining blocks from these two into one {hopefully} awesome quilt!
- I’d like to finish quilting & sew together my Lovely Liberty Cushion as well
Upcoming
The 100 Days 100 Blocks Tula Pink QAL starts on July 7th & I plan on being prepared with blocks made ahead of schedule. We’ll see how long this lasts! Here’s my stash so far ~>
My dad was cleaning out his closets & I snagged this corduroy blazer. I’ve got plans for a fun refashion, so stay tuned!
New Purchases
I found a solution to my tangled floss box! This came from Consumer Crafts. I purchased this separately at the time, but now they have it together for just 3.87! I’ve wound some thread up, but I saw this hack on YouTube for winding it with the sewing machine. Now I just need to find what works for me!
Here’s my newest set of mini charm packs from the Mini Charm Pack Club. One is missing, but I used it to make the mini charm tote!
Wish List
Right now I’m wishing for:
- This TAMI Revolution Hoodie Pattern on Etsy. I know it’s stinking hot right now, but this will be awesome to have when it cools down.
- This Star Bright quilt pattern is perfect to use up some of my growing stash!
- I’m loving this Plant Bountiful fat quarter bundle from Sharon Holland. So summery!
Crochet News
Finishes
I have found my crochet mojo again! There are 4 project bags empty now, mostly small things, but I had to start somewhere.
- I finally finished the last two pumpkins I had started. They just needed stuffing, closing, & stems. Find the pattern here.
- What was the start of a purse bottom has been turned into an over sized bookmark!
- This scarf is made of sock yarn & some fuzzy novelty yarn I had in my stash. It’s a variation on my super scarf pattern.
- The second gnome has been stitched together finally! I think I may make the largest size soon.
My lacy crocheted socks are finally finished! It only took me two years, but does that really matter? I also noticed they are not the same after I washed & dried them. That’s what happens when you pick up something after two years! Find the pattern here.
These hooded unicorn scarves are so much fun! I made them for some littles in the family, but I had to give them a test drive first. ; D
I used this pattern from The Velvet Acorn & Sprightly super bulky yarn from Craftsy in Suede & Medium Grey. Such a squishy yarn!
WIPS
Currently I’m still plugging along on my free form circular afghan. It took me a minute to figure out how to attach the little circles to the big one, since it has the bulky yarn in the center. I may do a whole post on this eventually.
I’m hoping to finish sewing up my squares from the 2016 Moogly CAL before the end of July.
Upcoming
New Purchases
I discovered Jimmy Beans Wool from watching YouTube & also discovered they have a new Jimmy Beans Crochet Project Club! It’s only $15 a month & I’m loving it so far! These are the first two boxes & I have the 3rd to show in the YouTube podcast.
These are my goodies from Darn Good Yarn:
- My first yarn bowl! They had a sale on these when I ordered, so I got this for just $20.
- I opted to get a $15 surprise item for just $5 at checkout. This sport weight silk yarn in “popsicle” is what I received. It’s the thyca survivor ribbon colors y’all! : D
- This is the first box I received from the yarn club, which is $10 + shipping a month. I think this is the first box everyone gets, maybe, then you get whatever the monthly is after that. Not exactly sure about that one!
- The second yarn box from the yarn club.
I finally broke down & bought a yarn winder! Why didn’t I do this sooner?? I’m still working on that tangled mess I made of my first ever yarn hank. That was before I knew you had to wind them.
Y’all, I may have went a little crazy with the Caron Sprinkle Cakes & Big Cakes! I ordered the first three online after seeing them in yet another YouTube video {maybe I need to stop watching those videos!}. Then, I found more on clearance after going to Michaels during my shopping trip. The yellow and grey cakes were only $2.99!! Anyway, here’s my tally:
- Caron Sprinkle Cakes ~> {3} mocha rainbow, {4} pecan fudge, & {4} vanilla bean
- Caron Big Cakes ~> {4} honey glazed & {2} mint fudge
Maybe they shouldn’t give them such yummy names!
Interweave had an up to 90% off sale on books this month. I have several new eBooks in my stash & received these in the mail:
I’m going to learn to knit y’all, so I will make these socks one day! : D
Wish List
Like I need more yarn, but…
- I’m loving this Comfy Cotton Blend yarn in the Enchanting Embers colorway. Maybe a cardigan or sweater?
- This Ombre Life yarn in Rush Hour will be in my stash soon!
DIY News
I have so many large DIY projects I want to do & it’s been either raining or just too stinking hot to work on them. There are plans in my brain to make more yarn bowls & use some dye with them. Stay tuned!
This is the rest of my haul from Consumer Crafts:
- Gnome & bubble stencils ~> This gnome stencil was in another wish list & I found it for just $3.50 in their sale section! The bubble stencil had to come too, since it was only $2.
- These bobbin & chicken roaster minis were just too cute to pass up at only $1 each!
- I really like these cement symbols, which were also $1 each. Don’t know what I’m going to do with them yet!
- These protect & store boxes were not what I expected. They are just a thinner plastic, but guess that’s why they were so cheap.
- I’ll be using these corrugated tags for gifts & the signs for some upcoming projects!
- These arrow chalkboard stickers & circle tags will come in handy for gifts & scrapbooking.
Okay y’all, we are approaching 3,000 words, so I think that’s enough! I’ll be working on the YouTube podcast to go along with this & hopefully have it up this in the next day or so. This is already late, so bye for now y’all!
P.S. I’m uploading a short video of me winding yarn & it’s taking forever!
