Today is the first day of The 100 Day Project. I have done this challenge in the past and I didn’t make it the whole 100 days. I’m going to try it again this year and see how it goes! Keep reading to find out more about what it is and what I’m doing this year. I hope y’all will join in!

In past years I did something that involved fiber arts. One year I did free-form crochet, one year I did free-form embroidery on a window screen, and one year I did scrappy quilt blocks. These were from 2017 to 2019 and the only one I consider finished is the free-form crochet project.

I haven’t attempted this for the past 5 years, so I think it’s time to try again. Plus, I usually enjoy the experience! This year I’m going in a different direction. One of my Maker Make Nine goals is to make more art. So I’m using The 100 Day Project to do that. My plan is to fill up both of these art pads.

One is a mixed media pad with 40 sheets, but I’m going to use both sides of the paper. The other is sheets for acrylic painting with 20 sheets and I can only use one side. That adds up to 100 pages. However, I’m almost certain both are missing some pages, so I’ll use my watercolor pad to make up for any missing pages.

I’m going to share day one in this post and the rest of the days will be on my Instagram page. For the first day, I wanted to try out these new blending brushes I got. Something I discovered through watching junk journal videos.

I gathered some ink pads, stencils, and alcohol inks.

I started with the alcohol inks – dot, dot, dot! Then I moved on to layering with my stencils.

Things got a little messy and more supplies came out to play!

I do really like how this turned out! It’s fun to just let your creativity flow and see what happens.

Lining the grains in the wood print makes me think of the branches in the tree that the wood came from.

This close up is a little blurry, but you can see the reflective bits from the pearl alcohol ink.

The alcohol inks and markers did bleed through the page, so something to think about if I want to use both sides. I’ll just look at it as a start for day 2! Also, I’ll have to remember not to use alcohol inks on this side.

Here’s pictures of the finished page in shade and in direct sun…

I think I’ll take a shade and sun picture each day for my Instagram post. Doing this will also help me work through my art supplies and see what is no good anymore. I also think I’ll set a timer for 15 minutes each day so I’ll be done when times up. This was so much fun and I’m looking forward to the next 99 days! I hope y’all will join in and I look forward to seeing everyone’s projects.
