This is my 3rd year participating in The 100 Day Project on Instagram! Although it’s been a little hit & miss this year with the scrappy project I picked for my challenge. Today I finally picked it back up & thought I’d share what I have so far. You can click on the link above to find out more about this challenge!
trip Scraps
Many moons ago I started making blocks out of strips of scraps. I had them separated out from my “regular” sized scraps! These are those strips & selvage edges many people toss at the end of projects. Some of them are a little wider & most are all I have left of certain fabrics. These are the original blocks:
I really like to use every possible piece of fabric I can! The pieced rows are from trimming strip blocks & I’ll even sew things on top if a seam will make it disappear.
When the 100 Day Project rolled around again this year, I decided it was the perfect time to pick this project back up. You can look up #the100dayproject on Instagram to see all the fabulous projects going on. My project is under #100daysofteadoddles.
All the blocks are 8.5″ x 6.5″ when cut. I like to sew stuff together until I’m a little over then trim them to size.
It’s really fun to see fabrics that I have used in past projects again! As I said before, some of these bits are all I have left of the fabric.
The lady’s face is leftover from an Oriental themed fabric I had left from a bag I made. I still have the bag!
Most of these I can remember exactly what project I used them in originally. It’s kind of like a scrapbook quilt!
The grey fabric in the blocks below is an apparel fabric, but most of these are quilting cottons.
I also found a use for the leftover iron on bits I have!
These two are some of my favorites…
That piece that looks like an arrow was just in the bag of scrap strips, so I used it as a fun detail.
I found a lot of blue jean scraps in the bag, so I decided to add them to the mix.
All Together Now
This has been such a fun project to work on! I really love mixing & matching all the bits & pieces.
Here’s all the blocks I have so far…
For some reason I’m missing the original pictures of some of the blocks. Don’t really know what happened! I have enough for about a 1/4 of a twin sized quilt. And y’all, my bag-o-scraps looks like I’ve barely touched it!
By the way, I’m having a sale in my Etsy shop that lasts through Mother’s Day. That’s this coming Sunday y’all in case you didn’t know! The bags & maker charm sets are on sale for 15% off plus you can use the code MAKERMOM to get a free single maker charm with a $30 & up purchase. Just add $30 worth of merchandise to your cart, plus the maker charm you want for the code to work. More bags are coming before the end of the week, so keep a look out!
