Welcome to the May Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop {and y’all too} to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month’s challenge is about Father’s Day, which is coming up next month. I chose something simple again – simple but delicious! This candied bacon is a favorite for pretty much anyone that eats it. : )

Like I said, this month I wanted to keep it really simple. Plus, I didn’t want to spoil any gift I make for my mom, as she does read my posts! Since I already had a few empty tin cans hanging around, this pin from House by Hoff was the perfect choice. I even had a paint color very similar to the one used in the original post. Of course, I had to do some things a little different!

Tin Can Upcycle
Lucky for me I like to keep larger cans after I use the contents. This trio was in my stash & ready for painting…
I used DecoArt’s American Decor Chalky Finish paint in Vintage on the exterior.
In the inspiration post, washi tape & paper was used to add some flair to the painted tin cans. I decided to use some crocheted doilies, twine, & leftover yarn for my flair.
I picked up the doilies at a crafter’s estate sale a while back. The yarn is silk & bamboo which is a perfect bit of fancy to my rustic cans! I used a glue gun to hold the twine & yarn in place.
Then I used the grooves as a guide to wrap it all around the can.
A couple dots of glue holds the doily in the center & covers the overlapping yarn and twine.
After I wrapped all three cans, I decided they needed a bit more bling. I raided my jar of vintage buttons & found the perfect ones…
I think some close ups are in order…
I just love how these turned out! There were some roses ready for cutting on my rose bush, so I went out and snipped a few.
These came off my rose bush named Betsy. She usually makes some of the biggest, fluffiest pink roses! These are a little smaller, but I really need to give her a good trim.
These cans are the perfect gift to myself {I am a mom!} & will be great for displaying flowers during the spring. I hope ya’ll enjoyed my simple project this month. Sometimes simple can be fabulous!
