Welcome to the X’s & O’s Heart Scarf CAL! This pattern is a little twist on my Pixel & Lace Heart Scarf I did back in 2018. You can find links for that 2 part pattern below this intro as well as all the CAL information. I hope y’all will join in the fun for February!

X’s & O’s Heart Scarf CAL Details

- I also have a “share the love” challenge going on in the Facebook group, so you can enter this for that challenge too. Just see the pinned post in the group for details.
- If you have any questions, just let me know!
Supplies & Notes
I made this scarf using DK{#3} weight yarn. You can make it with whatever weight yarn you would like and I discuss some of the options in this YouTube video. Here are the materials I used for the scarf in the tutorial video and pictures:
- Wool-Ease DK Cakes by Lion Brand – DK{#3} weight, 3.5oz/100g, 393yd/360m, 80% acrylic/20% wool ~ 1 cake in Forever Young & 1 cake in Strawberry Shortcake
- Hook size – 7/4.5mm
Note ~ It will take about a 1/3 to 1/2 of each cake to make the scarf. The hook size I used was based on my yarn size. If you use a different weight of yarn, you will need to adjust accordingly. You will need two contrasting colors to be able to see the heart shape in the scarf.
Abbreviations
- ch – chain
- sl – slip stitch
- dc – double crochet
- trc – treble crochet
- puff st – yo, insert hook into designated stitch, {yo & pull up loop} 5 times, yo & pull loop through all stitches on the hook, ch 1 {check out this video tutorial for the puff stitch if you need help}
- box – I refer to one complete section of C2C as a box. So a ch 3 and 2 dc makes a box or a ch 3, puff, & dc makes a box.
You can find Part 1 HERE. Part 2 will start with row 1 again, but connecting to the “O” heart. You can make the “X” heart separate and join them all together later. I will have a video with those instructions in the next part of the CAL.

Cut your yarn & weave in the ends. Your “X” heart is complete!
You will need a total of 15 hearts to make about a 6 foot scarf with DK weight yarn. Next week we will work on joining separate hearts and a border. Can’t wait to see all the hearts!
